About Amber
Its important to me that you know who I am internally, aside from the glitz and glamour of my modeling portfolio.I was raised by a missionary family in the Congo, Africa. I came to the United States and found my home in sports and my indentity in being a tom-boy. Truth is, I lost that girl amidst the crazy world of being a young adult, trying to prove myself and impress those around me. Modeling initially was a way for me to "prove" that I could take on this industry and be succesful, as if in some way it would validate who I was.
The Transformation
The transformation that happend, I believe saved my life. I began seeing a world driven by materialism and facades..and I developed as passion for representing truth. I want to represent a beauty that allures people in a pure way. I want to represent the truth in fitness by not buying into fads or unhealthy means to look good. And through those representation, my deepest desire is that somehow, even if its in a tiny way, I'll be able to encourage others to be exactly who they are.Allowing them to go back to their roots, and forget the expectations and approvals of everyone except their creator, no magazine spread or cover, no amount of recognition, or any monetary value could outweigh the importance of “people“ in my life and career….please, live YOUR life “for such a time as this” be who you are, and achieve the things that only you are given the talent, and opportunities to achieve.
thank you

In terms of physical appearance, what was your dream/goal?
My goals for myself physically have always been a balance of femininity and strength. I find being a strong woman very empowering, but I also value the beauty in a woman’s natural curves.
What did it take for you to reach your goal? Was it easy for you to achieve your dream body?
I look in the mirror at times and see the benefit of my dedication, and discipline, but I never feel like I’ve ever “reached” my goals, only because the minute I overcome one challenge I set up another one for myself physically. I spent a few months building muscle especially in my shoulders, and when I accomplished what I wanted to, I immediately transitioned into a cardio and flexibility program. It has become a lifestyle to maintain my physique- it was difficult initially- exercise has always been my high. I rely on it to feel like myself, and without it-I always feel like something is missing.
How important is it for you (or anyone) to have a dream for their body (physically)?
Having your “dream” body does wonders for external confidence. There is nothing like being able to walk with your head held high knowing that you were willing to do more than the average person to accomplish your goals. But I really believe wholeheartedly that appreciating yourself for your own internal uniqueness is just as important. The external should just be a reflection of you...not the definition.
What inspirational advice would you offer to other women about having a dream for themselves?
I encourage all women to have dreams for themselves. The reality is, you need to value yourself as in individual in order to be willing to invest the time into bettering who you are, physically, and mentally. I meet incredible women everyday! It’s just getting them to realize that and be willing to take time for THEM. It’s important not to get caught up in comparing yourself with everyone else-set goals specifically for you…that way you avoid unattainable standards.
What are your top 7 favorite exercises that helped you reach/maintain your dream body?
HANDSTAND PUSHUPS!, Jump rope, Tuck jumps, One-legged lunges on the BOSU ball, Prone plank, side plank with lateral raises, and seated row.
